I have been a "wordsmith" from a very tender age. An avid reader and an excellent student of grammar, literature, and writing.
Though I have never taught English, except as a substitute, I have earned enough credit hours to do so. I was able to proficiency the first year of college English in my testing.
In my professional life, I have worked in commercial property and casualty insurance for over 25 years. This work requires great attention to details. In addition to making certain adequate coverage is in place for a client, all correspondence with clients and insurance companies needs to be as clear, concise, and accurate as possible. Therefore, proofreading and editing has been a major part of my life.
I have also worked in the public schools as a middle school band director. Being able to write and print neatly on a blackboard is a real skill. No teacher wants to have any errors caught by a student on a blackboard or on a test. How embarrassing that would be! Over the years I taught, I prepared many documents for students to take home with instructions about the next concert, the next performance. Every word needed to be perfect. I certainly never wanted to be caught as one fellow teacher was. She applied to be a full-time teacher after serving for three years as an English teacher's aide. One school board member thought she wrote one sentence in an odd way. Because of this one sentence, which wasn't really incorrect, she was denied that teaching spot. Yes, teaching can be brutal!
I am a native English speaker. I had the great good fortune to be taught English grammar and usage by two lovely ladies. You know the type. Spinster English teachers. And what sticklers they were for accuracy! I hated it at the time but I'm so very thankful now for them.
You will be happy with the work you receive from me and the speed at which it is completed.
