For years now, I have been editing and proofreading other people's work. It started with school friends, who would ask me to read their papers and help them get a better grade in English by correcting their mistakes. Later, it was always a friend of a friend of a friend who would need some sort of review on his or her document.
All in all, I have also worked with a couple writers, in typing up their short stories or proofreading somebody else's typing of the same stories. For almost eight years now, I have been a freelancer who, in addition to providing content, has also done editor work.
Why editing? Because I know English. Because I like to help other people. Because editing and proofreading give me a sense of work well done.
What else? In addition to editing and proofreading, I occasionally write articles on a per project or freelance basis. Again, I like the independence that comes from a freelance job along with the diversity of researching various topics in order to provide a finished product. Finally, I have a novel on which I have been working on and off for the past three years - it is three quarters finished, just a little more.
