It is not technically ‘work experience,’ but my interest in writing was clear from a young age when I assigned myself research reports over summer vacation. It was no surprise that I pursued numerous freelance writing and design projects during college, and wrote daily in professional roles including sr. technical writer for an invention marketing company, marketing communication manager for a global material manufacturing company and my current position as a communication specialist. This writing experience spanned from technical portfolios, press releases and brochures to e-newsletters, Website and Intranet content, blog entries and social media management.
My communications responsibilities have ranged from public and community relations to employee communications to general product and company marketing. I am currently the communications specialist for a sustainable family farm that markets specialty and heirloom vegetables to gourmet chefs around the world. I have also worked as the marketing communications manager for a division of a global specialty materials manufacturer.
My professional experience has enabled me to learn a little bit about products across a wide range of industries and work with clients and businesses in the U.S. I've also gained in-depth knowledge in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, agriculture, culinary and hospitality with a global business perspective.
In every case, the skills I brought to each experience were, in essence, the same, as was my commitment to excelling beyond standards and expectations.
