I began my education at the University of Wyoming on a full academic scholarship and recognition as a National Merit Finalist. I studied the theater with an emphasis on technical design. I often worked with the stage writing students within my department to help edit and improve their productions before they reached the stage. After graduation I moved to Orlando Florida and began my career with Universal Studios. In my first technical position I was asked to write and edit training manuals for incoming employees in our department. Due to the technical nature of the equipment it was important to make these documents as clear and concise as possible. Shortly after being hired by the company I moved into a position as a technical programmer and trainer for the live venues in Universal City Walk. Once again I was called on to create technical schematics as well as manuals for all of the venues. It was important that an incoming employee could clearly understand the instructions and make a fast transition into their new position. After several years in this role, I became the crew chief for one of Universal's technical maintenance departments. A large part of my duties included researching new technology and presenting energy saving concepts. I was also required to produce legal documents on a daily basis that were used to keep a record of the safety inspections performed by my staff. It was extremely important that these documents were edited for content and professional presentation. Due to my superior performance in this role I was promoted to Administrative Coordinator for the Audio/Video Department of Universal Studios. My current responsibilities include editing the departmental newsletter, creating presentations that will be viewed by corporate management, and working with venders both inside and outside of the company in person, on the phone and most importantly in writing. All of the communications that I make on behalf of the company can be considered legal documents so professionalism, proper grammar and overall editing is crucial to the success of my department. All of this has taught me not only the importance of proper editing, but a natural ability to find the right words for any occasion even under pressure.
