After five years of teaching English, I can't read a document without itching to use a red pen. I have read thousands of academic papers with an eye for editing and proofreading. Errors in sentence or paragraph structure, grammar, punctuation, usage, and spelling trigger a physical reaction; I have a strong desire to rewrite or correct. Passive voice and other glaring style faux pas make me cringe. My credentials include a BA in English and certification in secondary education from The College of William and Mary, a Master's degree in English from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, and five years of teaching English and composition at both the high school and community college levels.
