I am an experienced writer and editor who has spent the 15 years since graduating from college creating documents for employers across various types of industries. My writing experience goes back to high school where I was the yearbook editor. My copy editing experience started in college where I was on the staff of the college newspaper. Since then I have:
- created and edited tax forms and government documents for a multimedia software company
- created a 1000+ page insurance claims manual for new employees of a Fortune 500 insurance company
- created training manuals and end-user help files to assist a Fortune 100 finance company convert to a new version of Windows
- created technical documentation and training manuals for Information Technology departments of two major manufacturing companies and one major pharmaceutical company
- performed duties on the editorial staff of an academic medical journal devoted to health and nutrition, working with journal manuscripts throughout all stages of publication, including assisting authors with rewrites
Most recently I have been a homeschooling parent doing work as a freelance writer, including book reviewing, blogging, and creating articles for various web sites. I have also done publicity work on a volunteer basis for 3 local non-profit groups over the past 2 years and also for a startup web site. This has included advertising/marketing, writing press releases, and creating documentation for internal use.
I have a strong background in literature as well, with a Bachelor's degree in English specializing in 19th century literature, and I'm also 12 credits into my Master's degree in Library Science.
