I earned my BA degree in Journalism from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2007. I completed 36 journalism credits with an emphasis in print journalism. Some of the more relevant journalism classes I completed include the following: news reporting and writing; advanced reporting; news editing; and online reporting and editing.
For all the aforementioned classes except the online reporting and editing course, I had one of the most challenging and demanding professors in at least the Reynolds School of Journalism if not the entire campus. We were given daily grammar quizzes and had continuous editing assignments and quizzes. These classes definitely provided me with the necessary editing skills to take on future editing and proofreading jobs.
In addition to my regular college coursework, I also had to complete an internship in a related field in order to earn my degree. For four months I worked for a local Reno magazine (which actually produced two different magazines, one for families and one more for adults) as an assistant editor, where my focus was on writing and editing articles. This environment allowed me to improve my writing and editing skills even more, and helped to make me the confident writer, editor and proofreader I am.
I write short articles for an online company (textbroker.com) on topics ranging from traveling to automotive.
