Plainly speaking, I love to read. I spend most of my free time reading, and I find it to be relaxing and a great way to exercise my mind. There is nothing that turns me off more quickly to a book than poor editing. Misspelled words, run-on sentences, inaccurate data and misused vocabulary are some of my own pet peeves in a book or document, and I strive to weed them out. Also, I hate a difficult read, wordy explanations that make a reader feel as though he or she have no brain.
Professionally speaking, proofreading is the key to a good book, and I am proficient at picking out spelling and grammatical errors. Concise wording without too much jargon is another area in which I am highly skilled. Professional and open-minded, I adhere to the current rules of grammar and spelling, without losing sight of the intended audience. In other words, I wouldn't recommend technical jargon to a romantic reader audience, nor would I try to oversimplify a text to a technical audience.
My preferred genre is fiction, but I have an educational background in law and sociology. I am well read in the political science arena, and have read many social journals.
I am willing to submit a test sample of my work with no strings attached, feel free to send me a single page for test editing and proofreading.
