I am a high school English teacher with 14 years of experience. My life-long love of grammar and my love of reading make me a right editor/proofreader for you. I am highly motivated, energetic, and very thorough in my quest for proper use of the English language. In the classroom, I encourage my students to become proficient users of their language by instilling in them basic grammar and mechanics knowledge. As part of our classroom studies, we use textbooks, newspapers, Websites, novels, as well as additional non-fiction sources to master our language. Old-fashioned grammar, it seems, has become archaic to much of main-stream Americans, and my goal is raise awareness in this area.
In addition, I have Advanced Placement (AP) certification in which my students have the opportunity to earn college credit for their studies in my classroom.
As a college student, I wrote for my university's newspaper as both a news writer and a features writer. I served as news editor of the paper during my senior year. I have published several freelance articles and have some experience in novel editing.
I am interested in freelance editing/proofreading because I feel that I can do more than simply grade essays. I read voraciously an can't seem to stop "grading" everything I read for errors in punctuation, capitalization, and spelling.
