I started in this line of business during high school, when classmates realized I was getting high marks in English and writing, and asked me to proofread their papers for them. I carried this tradition on in college, making a bit of money on the side by charging for my services. I never had any complaints about my work, and guaranteed that my customers would never suffer a lowered grade due to grammar, punctuation, style, or misspellings.
I have since worked for Bowne, a very prestigious proofreading company with offices worldwide. My work here was primarily with financial documents, such as tax forms and earnings statements. I also worked with prospectuses, company brochures, impact statements, and other business-related papers. I was complimented on my ability to quickly pick up various styles and correct errors based on each client's demands. My work was never a problem during my time with Bowne.
I have also worked with Merrill Corporation doing similar work to that which I did at Bowne.
