Profile If you are looking for a writer and/or editor for your human resources communications, consider my qualifications. I have 15 years of experience working in a human resources/employee benefits function during which I was responsible for writing a wide variety of communications materials. These materials ranged from formal proposals to be presented to corporate executives - to clear, concise announcements conveying a new policy or benefit to all employees. In between, I have written policy and procedure manuals, newsletters and have “translated” insurance contracts and IRS language to readable summary plan descriptions for numerous benefit plans. I have also prepared documents that comply with regulatory requirements imposed by the IRS, Department of Labor and others.

I am also a member of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists.

Since human resources and benefits communication can be rife with legal implications, it is important to select the correct words and tone so the reader can receive the intended message. My work experience has also made me very aware that when you are communicating to people with diverse educational backgrounds, your main goal is to get the message across.
