Editor/Writer/Proofreader with trade publishing background also has experience in myriad other fields. I've written, proofed, and edited just about every type of business document imaginable, plus I've developed Web sites and proofed all content. I've also written, proofed and edited a wide range of non-business materials.
NOTE: these rates are not set in stone and are only an average for this editor. The actual rate applicable to your document will depend on the depth of the edit, the quality of the writing, the topic matter, the proximity of the deadline, the length of the document and several other factors.
For the past 16 years, I've run a freelance writing business while maintaining a day job in trade publishing. Most of the trade pub time was spent as a production-oriented editor for a monthly magazine with numerous side projects. I am addicted to turning out the perfect document (hasn't happened yet, but I'm still trying!). I love to find things no one else finds -- the error that would have made a headline look silly, the clarification that makes the whole paragraph work. And all the while, of course, making sure the author's voice isn't altered.
In addition to magazine articles, I've written, proofed, and edited just about every type of business document imaginable (letters, press releases, resumes, marketing and sales pieces, slide/PowerPoint presentations and so on) except for an annual report. I've developed Web sites and proofed all content. I've also written, proofed and edited a wide range of non-business materials, from scripts/screenplays to short stories, through my freelance business and also my own personal projects. Finally. I've managed countless editorial projects from beginning to end.
