I have been a high school English teacher for ten years and have taught several creative writing classes. I focus on grammar, structure, syntax, and organization, as well as originality and voice.
Prior to teaching I worked as an editor for a firm for approximately one year. I read for pleasure and focus on books in the young adult, fantasy, mystery, and literary genres, but do not limit myself to those categories. If a story is good, I will read it.
My students often tell me I am incredibly picky when it comes to things like word choice and vocabulary. I encourage them to use the right words for the right sentences and do not allow them to write anything less than their best. As a professional editor I was tough but fair.
I work diligently to provide my clients with the best possible manuscript they can submit and if that means helping them rework individual sentences- or significant passages- I will do it. I believe the literary market is in need of high-quality texts and will strive to help you become one of the writers people remember and look for when they go to their local book seller.
