I have been proofreading and editing since 1996. I spent 10 years on my school's yearbooks, 4 of those as editor. I was the editor of my college's 500+ page yearbook and editor of the 100+ page new student directory (college size: 27,000 students). I began in middle school on staff for both yearbook and newspaper. in 8th grade, I was editor of both yearbook and newspaper. In 9th grade, I was a yearbook staff member and was in charge of producing and editing the index, as well as stories and pages for the yearbook. I was also awarded Staff Member of the Year. In 10th grade I was a staff member and was awarded Staff Member of the Year. In 11th and 12th grades I was editor of the yearbook and awarded Most Valuable Staffer both years. In college, I was a reporter for the yearbook for two years and won Reporter of the Year my first year. I was Managing Editor for one year and then Editor for one year.
I worked for two years as a web site proofreader, proofreading more than 1,000 web sites. Currently my job includes proofreading and editing resumes and cover letters for a staffing company.
I have experience proofreading books (none have been published yet), newsletters, resumes, web sites, letters, essays and term papers. I have received awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
I have a degree in Public Relations, offered through the College of Mass Communication. As part of a degree requirement, I had to take a Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation test, on which I scored a 90 out of 100. I have taken courses in News Writing, Public Relations Writing, Technical Writing and Creative Writing.
