I am a teacher with 7 years experience in education. I have strong editing skills and a command of the English language. My strong written and speaking skills add to my editing talents and abilities.
NOTE: these rates are not set in stone and are only an average for this editor. The actual rate applicable to your document will depend on the depth of the edit, the quality of the writing, the topic matter, the proximity of the deadline, the length of the document and several other factors.
I am an experienced teacher with a love and understanding of the English language, its nuances, and its grammar rules. Although I have no formal editing experience, I am the self-described "Editor-At-Large" for my school, as colleagues often seek my advice. I am asked by administrators and fellow teachers to proofread letters to parents and other professionals, in-school memorandums, resumes, references, and items such as newsletters, advertisements, banners, etc.
Prior to beginning my career in education, I worked in the field of social work. In my job as supervisor, I was responsible for many written items such as training material, forms, agendas, letters to other agencies with which we worked, and other written documents that were to be placed in personnel and client folders.
I have strong writing and speaking skills and these add to my ability to easily edit text for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and flow. I am a firm believer that people should present themselves and their writing in a professional and dignified manner. To me, it is unacceptable for one's writing to be filled with grammatical, spelling, and/or punctuation errors because meaning is lost and communication errors occur.
