I've had four years of editing experience on staff for SLAB, a literary magazine based out of Slippery Rock, PA. I was the Senior Managing Editor for the fourth issue, the Online Production Manager for the third issue (which entailed entering all of the text corrections on the electronic copies of submissions), and a regular reader/editor for the first two issues. My familiarity and passion for poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and screenwriting translates into my ability to correct errors in creative and technological/professional content, and not to change the style of writing. Many peers and fellow writers know I have a careful eye and attention to detail, so many ask me to go over and edit any papers or stories they have before submitting them.
With my experience running a literary magazine, I know the importance of professionalism and time management. I also know how crucial a document that represents or advertises a company needs to be flawless and simple while still maintaining a personality that makes that company unique. I've also taken several advertising classes, so I know and understand how copy informs as well as catches people's attentions. Whatever document I am reading, I keep in mind the organization's priorities and mission statement, that way their copy keeps true to their foundation while possessing clarity and reflecting their professionalism.
