By way of introduction, I am a recent graduate of the University of Georgia, with a Master of Science in Geology. I also have a BA in Anthropology and Classical Culture from the same university. In both undergrad and graduate school, I took primarily writing intensive courses and finished both degrees with high a GPA. Although my area of interest is rather specialized, the technical skills I have acquired along the way are applicable across all disciplines.
While attending school, I also worked for a local contract archeology company and spent summers working for archaeological excavation projects. During this time, I accumulated over 7 years experience writing, editing, and proofreading technical reports, data summaries, abstracts, and grant proposals for scientific research in both professional and academic settings. As a graduate student, I was awarded 8 competitive grants. I also received recognition from the Geological Society of America for Outstanding Student Research Proposal, an honor awarded to only 1% of grant applications every year. I have experience with various word processing packages, including MS Word, Open Office, and Word Perfect. I also have experience with data entry, analysis, and presentation of scientific data using spreadsheets, database software, and GIS.
