Over nearly 20 years of experience in the newspaper industry, I have developed a knack for spotting flaws in copy and correcting them. A strong eye for detail helps me to achieve my goal: to improve and enhance the product while working with writers to make the needed corrections.
Currently, I work as editorial pages coordinator for a regional newspaper in the Midwest, where I am responsible for all the content on our pages each day. Previously, I have experience as an copy editor and news editor online and in the newspaper industry. I managed, produced and edited sports and entertainment content for our newspaper's web site.
While editing our newspaper's letters column, I worked often with writers to improve their letters while verifying sensitive information and researching their letters via the Internet and other fact-checking sources to ensure accuracy.
I also have worked as a night copy desk chief in our newspaper's sports department, where I performed a variety of copy editing duties, including proofreading, line editing, paginating, slotting stories for publication and headline writing.
