Proofreading and editing are skills that I developed working as a Business and English teacher and secretary. Teaching keyboarding, business communications, creative writing, and literature required proficient skills in spelling, grammar, accuracy, and writing techniques. Checking students' typing and writing assignments required editing and proofreading daily. My past experience working as a secretary for approximately six years demanded accuracy and speed. The skills I developed the most as a secretary were concise writing and preparing documents with complete accuracy. It was essential to me that work going out of the office was perfect. My experience preparing flyers, brochures, and newsletters going out to the public also required perfection. These skills I developed from these work experiences and my education are a natural transition to proofreading and editing for clients from various fields. I have expertise in recognizing typing errors, incorrect word usage and grammar, and awkward sentence structure. My excellent typing and computer skills combined with my language and writing skills are an asset for the editing field. Currently I work in my home and am available for editing jobs which have a deadline.
