I have earned two bachelor's degrees, one in English and one in journalism. I have also worked for a local university as an English/Spanish tutor. While I was working there, one of my duties was to proofread papers brought in by students. I also worked an unpaid internship with a local alternative newspaper, during which I wrote arts and entertainment articles and occasional video game reviews. I am also and avid reader, and spend quite a bit of time writing as well, whether short stories or blog posts. I am familiar not only with the basic rules of English grammar, but also with APA and MLA style formats.
I am also quite fluent in Spanish, though not necessarily perfect, and should be able to translate most projects from one language to the other easily. I also have a beginner's knowledge of French and German.
My area of expertise lies in English grammar and spelling. My experience with reading and writing fiction also means that I can check for errors within those stories, such as pacing, characterization, as well as basic grammar and tone. I am also quite adept at research, so I can find items in academic papers that may or may not be academically sound.
While I know both APA and MLA style formats, I am much stronger in APA, as I minored in sociology while I was getting my second degree. Therefore, I have used it more recently.
