For more than 30 years, I have been writing political essays, short stories and manuscripts about history, politics, sports and the arts. A magna cum laude graduate of Georgetown University, where I was a political columnist for the Georgetown Voice and received a BA in Government, my literary efforts range from a short story on the night I met Led Zeppelin ("The Night All the World Was a Page") to an eyewitness account of the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre ("An American in Tiananmen Square").
While living in San Francisco during the 1980s, I helped lead a successful union organizing drive at a prominent legal publishing company. A chronicle of this campaign is part of a trilogy entitled, "Recruiting for the Cosmos."
San Francisco was also the launching pad for my traveling to Beijing to cover its 1989 pro-democracy movement as a freelance reporter for the San Francisco Examiner. While witnessing the massacre from my hotel, I phoned in my account to the foreign affairs editor of the Examiner, a report that appeared on the front page of that paper the next day, "A bloodbath outside the hotel window."
During those 3+ decades, I have made my living as a legal and medical copy editor, working for such prestigious firms as Sullivan & Cromwell and Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare Advertising.
