English, and especially grammar, has been a passion of mine since high school. I pride myself on my comprehensive knowledge of the English language. Additionally, my years of teaching English have afforded me the opportunity to acquire more knowledge on the subject. Moreover, I am familiar with Strunk and White.
Editing and revising seventh grade papers is challenging as these students have a foundation of grammar and the English language, however, they do not possess the skills or knowledge required of them to be successful at this level. Thus, the job of teaching them such skills and providing a course for them to acquire such knowledge is the responsibility of the teacher. I must be meticulous in recognizing various errors throughout numerous assignments. The papers that are written are expected to be grammatically correct without exception. Correct usage and punctuation are expected. The use of dashes, semi-colons, and commas must be precise. Vocabulary is required to be extraordinary, accurate, and varied. All of these skills and knowledge are acquired at this age; therefore, it is the responsibility of the teacher to instill both in the students. Thus, I possess the ability not only to teach the concepts, but also to recognize when they are being used correctly and when they are not. I retain the knowledge, education, and skills required to quickly discern how to correct sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, utilization, and vocabulary.
