I have loved to write as far back as I can remember. I feel like God has given me a gift in that I love the written word. I tried to write a book once but it did not work out. I still love to write and I love editing and proofreading. When I was about eight years old I began a journal. I was always glad in school when the teacher gave us a writing assignment. Writing and English were two of my best subjects. In fact, other students would ask me to look over their papers which I was glad to do. After that, I got a lot of good use of my writing, editing, and proofreading skills in college! Every week it seemed we had a paper due and I usually did a great job.
Over the last five years I have been teaching second and third grade students. Since writing, editing, and proofreading are included in the TEKS which are guidelines teachers must follows in their daily teaching. Not only the students write but the teachers write as well. I had to proofread letters and other writing pieces. I was so honored that some teachers came to me for help as well. I also wrote two grant proposals for technology in my classroom. I also helped other teachers with their grant proposals. I am pleased to report that I was awarded the technology that I asked for.
I have always been one of those people that catches mistakes when reading, whether it be a newspaper, book, or a letter to me. It was always stressed to me in the business world, and I honestly believe it myself, that people will have less respect for you if you send them something that has a misspelled word or bad grammar. I do not take joy when someone else makes a mistake, I just always seem to find them. I know that I am not perfect and I will make mistakes (hopefully very few) but I will do the very best job I can.
