I am a 2002 graduate of a private, liberal arts college. I graduated summa cum laude, honors in the discipline, with a degree in English (literary studies and professional writing) and a minor in history. I have a number of formal and informal experiences in editing and proofreading. In college, it was part of my liberal arts education to read and offer suggestions to fellow students on their essays. More formally, I taught a class for college-bound high school students to improve their writing skills. I edited, corrected, and suggested ways to make their sentences, paragraphs, and papers more interesting and concise. I have also done private tutoring to help students correct everything from grammatical awkwardness and lifeless vocabulary to poor structure and sprawling (or non-existent) theses. The papers I have edited have include poetry and fiction as well as academic research writing. Though my main areas of training are literary and historical in nature, my liberal arts background and my wide reading interests qualify me to proofread a variety of topics. Editing is far more than impeccable grammar (although I am known for that). True editing involves a love for and understanding of the English language. It will be my pleasure to assist you in your writing endeavors.

I have had a number of formal and informal experiences in editing and proofreading, besides the inevitable gratis editing that most English degree holders provide to friends and family. During my college years, it was part of my liberal arts education to read and offer suggestions to fellow students on their essays and projects. More formally, I taught a class for college-bound high school students to improve their writing skills. This involved much time and effort on my part, as I edited, corrected, and suggested ways to make their sentences, paragraphs, and papers more interesting and concise.
