My name is Lynn and I'm a freelancer specializing in proofreading and writing, among other skills. I fled the corporate world in 2006. Prior to fleeing, I worked for three years in the Web department of Summit Media, a local magazine publishing company. I maintained three women's websites and also took on proofreading duties for Cosmopolitan Magazine and Marie Claire Philippines.
Proofreading
I like to think I was born to proofread. I received a book of children's stories when I was seven years old and even then, I couldn't resist drawing a circle around the errors I found. To this day, the sight of even a single typo causes me great discomfort, hence my enthusiasm to promptly correct it.
Writing
I've been writing since I was little and used to stay up till 6 a.m. typing away at our typewriter. I got up the nerve to join the school paper in high school, serving as lifestyle and features editor and doing most of the proofreading duties. In college, I was able to hone my skills in research work and writing, with the added bonus of learning how to be a better writer in Filipino.
Working for a magazine publishing company has also helped me write in various styles and tones, and also gave me some insight into the editorial process.
Today, I write for various publications, both online and print, and also work as a web content writer.
