I have 30 years of experience in writing scientific and technical reports, presentations and documentation for scientific and policy-related audiences. High quality and fast and accurate turnaround of products is assured. Customer satisfaction is my ultimate priority. We are a team. And my success depends on my customers’ success. I am proud of our mutual goal.

My 30 year career in writing was forged initially during 8 years in the British nuclear industry where I wrote technical reports on several research topics. My evolving craft was elevated to a much higher and more versatile level after I began writing scientific and technical articles for senior government officials in the challenging arena of the Australian Defense and Prime Minster’s Departments. After 11 invaluable years there, I decided a new challenge was in order, so I joined the United Nations where I am now responsible for managing nuclear inspections in many countries worldwide. In this role, I have been required to write on technical, conceptual and policy-related issues to very rigid deadlines, and almost on a daily basis.
My subject-matter experience is broad, and includes nuclear, defense, security and economic issues. Often I have covered issues down to the “atomic” level but I have been required to present the information in layman terms to higher level audiences. Furthermore, I have often had to ensure that managers and other decision-makers have the necessary information at their fingertips concerning the conceptual and policy implications that may arise from scientific and technological developments.
Writing is a natural skill for me, although I am always improving it. I have a panache for editing, and I enjoy the challenge of listening to customers’ ideas and transforming them into print with clear and appealing prose. I even enjoy working on somewhat incoherent drafts from customers and deciphering their intended messages, and then presenting them in the way they were originally intended.
I would like to continue my career by devoting more time to writing from a freelance perspective. Telecommuting is still a relatively new, but very appealing concept to me. I believe my discipline and devotion to customer satisfaction will ensure that I can achieve the high standards necessary to achieve the high standards of quality and timeliness that are essential for successful freelancing. I believe that my customers and I are a team, and our quest for success is mutual.
