I’m a professional editor with more than 10 years of experience. I am familiar with Associated Press, Chicago and MLA stylebooks. I am a newspaper editor who has edited and written stories for the News, Business, Health, Arts, Entertainment, Features and Living sections of a mid-sized daily newspaper. I now completely write, edit, prepare and lay out copy (using Quark XPress) for monthly pull-out sections on topics such as parenting, travel, women’s issues, senior citizens and holidays. In 2002, I won a Tennessee Press Association award for humorous writing. While pursuing a Master of Arts in English at a private university, I was an assistant English teacher and helped many students with grammar, usage and composition. In addition, I worked extensively with ESL students in two university language labs, helping them with research papers and technical papers. My undergraduate specialization was Professional and Technical Writing, through which I learned to edit business letters and reports, technical research papers and instruction manuals. I currently edit and layout an eight-page newsletter for my community’s train depot museum. I have also recently edited a 600-page novel.
