Profile
My recent proofreading experience includes proofreading trade articles for EditFast, and proofreading historical novels for DistributedProofreaders.
My first career was as a secretary, which I did for many years. This required attention to detail and proofreading all correspondence and technical reports which I produced. My business teacher in junior college was very particular when it came to shorthand, typing skills, and proofreading your work. I believe it is also part of a good work ethic to do good work that you can take pride in, and I do.
After working many years as a secretary, I went back to college to get a B.S. degree in Business/Accounting. I was responsible for doing payroll for over 300 employees and all accounts payable with very few errors.
After receiving my B.S. degree, I went back to college to get a teaching license in Elementary Education. I have worked for the last few years as a teacher (teaching spelling, vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, verb and subject agreement, sentence structure, and writing).
I am also a voracious reader and have found many mistakes over the years!
I believe in doing the job you are paid to do and doing it well. I really am very meticulous when it comes to proofreading and editing; and because of my training and experience, I am very good at grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting. I am also very thorough and detailed-oriented, and I am very good at prioritizing my work and in meeting deadlines.
