I am an experienced editor from New Jersey currently employed as a professor of academic writing for MSc and PhD students in Shenzhen, China, seeking part-time work in editing from around the globe. My experience has been mostly with legal and business writing, but most subjects, such as education, pose no difficulty.
I am seeking short-term freelance assignments and long-term business relationships. One-time assignments are appreciated, as are long-term projects and on-going employment. Professional writing services can also be provided to clients. I am available to edit and/or proofread up to 20 hours per week.
I earned an MFA in writing and poetics in 2005 and a BA in English in 2002. I have edited and written for a weekly legal newspaper and an international business/legal book publisher. My travel writing and poetry has been published online and in print.
I have experience in AP, Chicago, and MLA styles of editing, and can easily adapt to any house styles that may suit a client's needs. Most office software is accessible and file formats are not a problem. I have a background in page layout for print and Web. I am diligent and efficient when it comes to proofing professional writing. If possible, I enjoy working closely with writers to discuss corrections and changes to material.
