I have worked with a number of English newspapers for more than five years, proofreading and editing articles. Frequent and short deadlines have been a common feature of my work. Thorough checking of facts, consistent reliability, and prompt and accurate editing and proofreading of articles has led to a large amount of work being assigned to me in the newsroom. Newspaper space demands mean that subediting and proofreading go beyond the standard grammar and spelling checks; often leading to rewriting of the copy to reduce the word count.
I have worked since 1993 as a freelance journalist, contributing articles to English newspapers on a number of social, legal and human rights issues.
I have a specialization in and academic and practical experience of law in general and international human rights law in particular. My international human rights assignments include working with Amnesty International’s international secretariat in London. I am currently the joint editor of a leading national human rights organization’s annual publication, which covers a range of human rights issues.
I believe that a combination of journalistic, legal and human rights knowledge and experience adds to my editing skills and enables me to deliver reliable and professional copy and proofread English content quickly and accurately.
