My extensive experience in writing and editing has its foundation in my English
degree and minor in Business Communication. I also completed my 100-page Master's thesis at the University of Iowa. I was trained as a writing tutor for college students and have many hours of experience working with students for whom English was a second language. I was a copyeditor for my college newspaper, as well. As a graduate assistant, I edited child development research articles before submission to publication and edited others' theses and dissertations in the areas of hospital engineering, optics, physics, and
speech-language pathology. As a member of the International Toastmaster's Association, I offered constructive criticism to members' speeches and wrote marketing and advertising copy resulting in a 100% increase in membership in one year and earned the Toastmaster of the Year Award. I also proofread articles in a magazine writing group consisting of an internationally published author. I have extensive knowledge of editing advertising, marketing, and newsprint copy, magazine articles, academic research papers, web pages, and corporate newletters and training modules. A few of my interests include public relations, advertising, marketing, and research studies, women's health, pediatrics, special education, birth-to-three education, athletics and particularly triathlon.
