Former ESL teacher and Grammar Nazi, familiar with 3 European languages (Dutch, French and German), can translate your text into English, or proofread your already translated text against the source. I also edit and rewrite, so the end result is not 'translated' but flows. Translation is an art, it can be very subtle, and there are often several choices in phrasing a sentence. You tell me who your readership is, I'll structure the sentence and your readers won't know the information was ever in another language. My own personal philosophy is that less is more, and three well-chosen words are better than six. In any case, as an artist and a connoisseur of visual culture, I believe a picture says so much more.
I've translated and proofread legal texts (general), PR material for luxury goods, tourist information, songs, website texts, technical material and manuals, historical data, menus, magazine and newspaper articles .... and more besides. I've edited a novel, I've worked with a legal scholar to write her PhD, I've proofread and even done background checks on MA Art history papers. I've researched aviators, artists, and astronauts, through the alphabet to wars, watchmakers and windmills and beyond.
My current personal projects include putting together a Reader for Ireland, illustrated children's books, and a project relating to how society views the human body.
