I graduated with honors from a college with a stringent writing program. My bachelor of arts in English degree from Meredith College enabled me to become a highly qualified high school English teacher. As part of my rigorous writing education, I enrolled in proofreading, editing, and grammar courses. I also worked part time in my college's writing center editing and proofreading papers for my fellow students. This job also provided me with the opportunity to teach grammar courses to my peers-- an experience which strengthened my own abilities.
In my teaching experience, I had the opportunity to not only write, edit, and proofread as part of my job duties but also to teach these skills to my students.
I am a strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills. I have had the opportunity to hone these skills in my communications with peers, students, parents, and administrative officials during my teaching career.
Even after I left the teaching profession, I did not drift away from writing and editing. I have spent the last two years as a professional essay grader for Pearson, a highly respected corporation in the education field. Part of my job with Pearson requires me to scan essays quickly for grammatical accuracy as well as conciseness and clarity.
