I have a BA from The College of William and Mary, and have studied in PhD programs at both Cornell and Stanford Universities before leaving the academic tenure-race for a more creative lifestyle. I taught writing at Cornell for several years, and was trained by the university in editing (and constructive criticism if required), especially pieces written by non-native English speakers. During that time, my course was the most frequently requested writing course, and I believe at least part of that is because I give clear feedback and was good at fixing all of those little errors that sneak in with too many viewings. I know what the most common grammatical errors are but I also know the strange and uncommon ones- as a former student of linguistics, I can figure out the most tortured of sentences to help you express your real meaning without confusing your audience.
I am a fast reader, a fast typist, and an extremely fast editor, and I abhor a poorly constructed sentence. I have read and edited academic articles in a variety of subjects for many of my grad-student friends, and am now turning those skills to making a profit- but I want you to have a better piece when I'm done.
