After six years of freelance editing for local writers' groups, I went back to college to earn my associate of arts in English degree from Waubonsee Community College. There I earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.95/4.00. I frequently wrote for the college literary magazine, Horizons, and was locally published in three local periodicals.
I earned my bachelor of arts degree in writing/publishing from Benedictine University, graduating magna cum laude. Class projects included editing scientific manuscripts for Argonne National Laboratory, as well as writing for the electronic media such as radio and TV. I thoroughly enjoyed writing/editing for interactive media.
After college I joined Allured Publishing Corporation as an assistant editor/Web editor for Skin Inc. magazine. In addition to editing for two Web sites, I primary and copy edited business and health-related manuscripts. I also wrote feature articles and managed several monthly columns. I continue to write and edit both fiction and nonfiction manuscripts.
I have a strong interest in the ocean and related sciences and am currently working on a novel on the subject. I also enjoy reading and listening to music.
