I am a social science postgraduate who was introduced to editing as part of employment when I worked as an English teacher in China. I wrote and therefore edited many essays in the completion of my two degrees. Editing was also important in my work as a private tutor. I read widely, both fiction and non-fiction. I am equally comfortable with American and British English.

I was first introduced to editing as part of paid employment when I was working as an English teacher in China. My editing duties, often written by Chinese students and teachers, were alongside my teaching duties. Some of this editing involved substantial rewriting. During the years that I attained my BA in Political Science and my MA in History I had to edit my own work several times (as well as occasionally that of fellow students) and make it acceptable for submission. My MA dissertation involved several drafts revised for content, style and presentation. I have worked as an A-level tutor (helping students prepare for their pre-university exams in the UK) in History and Politics, and had to be able to show my students how to improve their own writing. I read widely, both fiction and non-fiction (and sometimes find myself spotting mistakes in books!). Favourites include historical fiction, biographies, newspapers, newsmagazines and forensic science. I have aspirations to write my own novel. Other interests include travelling, music (particularly indie), films and logic puzzles.
Being a US citizen who has lived in the UK for several years, I can write, spell, punctuate and edit in both American and British English. I can adapt this to each client’s needs.
