Profile Throughout my career, I have always gravitated toward and enhanced my writing and editing skills. For a number of years I owned and operated my own business and was responsible for daily proofreading of other's work. As a social worker, this typically included treatment plans of care, letters to professional peers and governmental entities. It was imperative that I be able to properly write, edit and proofread my work and that of my staff so that I appropriately represented my business.

I also worked as a paralegal revising and editing attorney created documents. Attention to detail was essential and efficiency was encouraged. I learned a great deal from others and have continued to implement the skills and lessons learned with each document I review. This was especially helpful as I began to write and disseminate press releases and letters to the editor in my current job. Many of these documents have been published locally and are therefore, tied directly to me. It was incumbent on me to ensure that these documents were all properly created and reviewed.

I believe that well written documents are critical to professional success. Letters sent to potential or current customers, press releases distributed to the media, internal documentation or public flyers and brochures all reflect on your business and ultimately your reputation. People want and need to feel confident that they are paying for quality. This is conveyed in your written work as well as your verbal word.
