If I could, I would carry a red marker with me everywhere I go, in order to eradicate the errors I see on copy all around me! I am a person who is not only aware of, but some might say offended by spelling/grammatical/punctuation errors in public documents and professional signage.
I have a BA in English and taught at the high school level for several years. My students were drilled in correct usage and spelling, as I was a stickler for that. Since that time, I have edited/proofread three books, served as a newsletter publisher/editor for a non-profit organization for 12 years, and offered my availability on a volunteer basis to several individuals and organizations when they need copy to be edited. Even friends call me when they have questions about grammar.
