Great copy is never sloppy! Hire a copy editor.

Poor punctuation and grammar is not acceptable!

There are never too many good writers but there are definitely too many writers who aren't good!

Have you ever received a promotional flyer, press release or written sales pitch that was so full of punctuation, grammatical or spelling errors it made you cringe? What happens when that happens? You suddenly are no longer paying attention to what the writer was trying to say or sell. You're too busy looking for errors or being shocked that someone who wants your business or attention doesn't care enough about you to make sure what you're reading reads well. Some proofreading and copyediting prior to printing would have made all the difference.

But surely if that writer is the next J.K. Rowling, no-one's going to worry too much about correct grammar, punctuation and spelling when the story is riveting? Wrong! The story won't be riveting when the reader, especially if it's a publisher, can't get past the first chapter because of all the grammatical and other blunders. Reading is all about comprehension and enjoyment, and when words don't flow, phrasing is weak, and punctuation, grammar and spelling are terrible, well quite frankly, it's poor writing etiquette to ask anyone to read your masterpiece.

Today, college graduates, doctors, lawyers and even English teachers often cannot decide whether to use "it's" or "its". The words "a lot" were somehow converted into "alot" a long time back. And despite the old "i before e, except after c" rhyme that was drummed into students years ago, writers still are confused when it comes to spelling "receive", "deceive" and "sieve".

An experienced copyeditor will proofread your writing to make sure your promotional flyers, press releases, magazine articles, novels or literary masterpieces do what they should: catch your reader's interest, disseminate information, sell a product or satisfy needs. Before you send your creation off for printing, make sure that you engage a copy-editor to write it rightly!
