Copywriters
Copywriters create texts for advertisements for newspapers, radio, television, magazines and other media. They also write for publicity releases, for sales promotion materials or informational booklets. According to advertising agencies, a written script is referred to as a copy, and thus those who write a script are best known as copywriters. The main purpose of writing a promotional or marketing copy is to persuade the listener or reader to buy a product/good or to dissuade a reader from a particular belief or action.
Copywriters may work as employees for larger organizations such advertising agencies, public relations firms, advertising departments within larger companies, TV or radio stations, newspapers and magazines. Copywriters can also work for themselves as freelancers for a variety of clients.
Good copywriters must be very creative and work on tight space or timing constraints. Copywriters must also have a strong background in English and have the ability to think under pressure. Copywriters enhance the image of a product and create the desired mood.
Copywriters work closely with the client and other team members to generate ideas. The team including the copywriters may decide to have brainstorming sessions that will help set the tone and other elements for video, music, narration, etc.
Today, copywriters are an invaluable asset especially in the media. Those working in the television news or newspapers are sometimes used in production and editing of work.
