Using Commas
The And-Omitted Comma
The and-omitted comma separates consecutive or independent
adjectives that would otherwise be separated with the word
and. Thus, if you can insert the word and between
two adjectives, you can use an and-omitted comma instead.
Examples:
The report had a long, wordy conclusion. (long and
wordy)
The sharp-looking, expensive car was totally demolished
in the accident. (sharp-looking and expensive)
