Using Pronouns Joined
with and CorrectlyCorrect case of a pronoun joined to another pronoun or to
a noun is often difficult to hear, as in this sentence:
• Ted and me are going to the meeting.
The simple solution to this problem is to separate the
words that are joined with and. Then read the two words
alone in separate sentences.
Example:
• Ted and me are going . . .
Becomes:
• Ted is going . . .
• Me is going . . . (should be I am going.
. .)
Therefore, the sentence should say:
• Ted and I are going to the meeting.
Our ears will tell us whether the pronoun has been used correctly.
