Psychology, self-help, psychosocial adjustment, cl

Behavioral science texts, psychohistory journals,

Psychology and self-help article and book editing and proofreading. The subjects in such works can range from the practice of clinical psychiatry to the exploration of psychohistorical issues to advice and self-help for dealing with psychosocial problems commonly found in modern American society. There is a focus here on the Behavioral Sciences in modern times, in both their clinical and societal applications. To be more specific, the subject matter can be either theoretical or practical, more germane to the classroom or the home, or meant for everyone from the accomplished psychiatric professional to the proverbial man or woman on the street. The manuscripts may have the kind of language commonly found in psychiatric textbooks or journals of psychology and psychohistory, or it may be simpler, such as is typically used by the authors of self-help books. The psychiatric issues covered may include, but not be limited to: schizophrenia, neurosis, codependency, social maladjustment, developmental disorders, depression, addictions, etc. The target audiences of the manuscripts may range from practicing psychotherapists and social workers to teachers or students of psychiatry, psychology, and social work, to concerned parents and other laymen. Conceptually, the manuscripts may rely heavily on Freudian or Jungian theory, but preferably would also include more modern ideas and applications as well, with reference to the works of Erikson or Maslow, for example, or even to those of self-help theorists like Bradshaw, Williamson, or a variety of spiritual psychotherapists. On the other hand, the more practical works may be concerned with performance and practice issues for the professional, including continuity of care and patients' rights, or may deal directly with the application of self-help concepts to problems in everyday life such as family crises and substance abuse.
