Business, medical, and general-interest topics

Health, office-life and how-to articles.

Non-fiction writers need a variety of skills in order to succeed, and those skills must blend together as readily as the ingredients of a chef’s prize recipe. While they deal with facts and statistics, they must also organize them in a way that captures their individual outlook and style, and will interest the reader as well.

Solid research is essential. Once the writer has selected a topic for an article, he must set out to present a clear and accurate picture of that topic to his readers, and this is accomplished by careful research. The Internet can be a valuable resource here, but since the amount of material available is so vast, he must be absolutely certain that he is using a reliable source, rather than the rant of some obscure blogger.

Honesty is even more essential. Today, a writer may often “copy and paste” from Internet sources, but that only gives her the proverbial “rough draft” as a start She should use this material just as students used their notes for term papers decades ago, and work with it to complete a new, unique document. If a writer is tempted to plagiarize, she should consider the embarrassment of being caught, and the value of being able to look herself in the eye when she stands in front of her mirror in the morning.

“I found a company called Demand Studios in “The Editorial.” I am now making $1,000 to $1,800 per week editing short “How To” articles for ehow.com. I'm loving it!” Judi
