Advertising Copywriter

An advertising copywriter creates advertising material, such as brochures, billboards, commercials, pamphlets etc. Information is received through the client (perhaps a company that is launching a new product that it would like to introduce in the market), and the advertising copywriter goes through all the information to come up with a suitable campaign of words and pictures for said product.

Advertising is very important, especially to major multinational corporations, and lots of money is spent annually. This is why advertising copywriters are invaluable when it comes to marketing campaigns for theses companies. This is where the advertising copywriter, comes in - he or she must come up with a catchy by-line that will grab the attention of the buying public. They need to connect emotionally with the product and put themselves in the buyers' shoes to be able to satisfactorily copy write for the product.

An advertising copywriter must be much attuned to the clients' needs and the type of message that the client is trying to get across to the public. Advertising copywriters can work for advertising companies or work freelance and pick up company accounts on their own. The need for them to be artistic and creative cannot be over emphasized, because the competition they face from the numerous advertising companies out there.

Advertising copywriters do not have ordinary jobs, in that every account they have to work has to be totally different from any they have previously worked on. They are also usually working under strenuous deadlines which they receive from the client. However, they hard work and the stressful nature of the job is rewarded by good perks and generally above average salaries.

Advertising copywriters, are also qualified enough to get jobs in the Journalism industry if they so wish, as both jobs require fairly similar qualifications.
