Book Editor

Book Editor

A quality book editor may be the only thing you lack if you have ever closed a novel only to lament that your book, which remains unpublished, is better than the one you just read.

Writing the great American novel may not happen for everyone, but just getting published can and does when you have good content, and a good book editor.

Some people have the opinion that story telling is a lost art. But I have crossed paths with a lot of good storytellers who had excellent stories that may have never seen the light of day had they not acted on their instinct to find a book editor.

People can join writing clubs, hone their writing skills and repeatedly re-edit their own books, but until they get serious enough to find an objective book editor, they will struggle getting them to the shelf.

Publishers take note of what it will take to get the book from its submitted condition to a polished story. If the manuscript is going to take more reworking than the publisher is ready to take on, it will be rejected.

It's sad to say, but just as a lawyer representing himself has a fool for a client, an editor editing his own book has a fool for a book editor. Regardless the editing skills and experience a writer possesses, he is his own worst enemy when he doesn't reach out for an objective book editor. Many experts in the publishing industry consider this the number one mistake made by those trying to get their books published.

Many writers assume, without even checking into it, that the cost of a book editor is prohibitive. Those writers may be pleasantly surprised were they to look at the availability and cost effectiveness of book editors in today's market.

A lot has changed over the years, and some of it is for the good. The Internet has increased competition so much that the service of a book editor has improved while the cost of hiring one has decreased.

You've spent a lot of your own valuable time developing, writing and editing your story; it's time to drive it to the bookstore with a quality book editor.

“I found a company called Demand Studios in “The Editorial.” I am now making $1,000 to $1,800 per week editing short “How To” articles for ehow.com. I'm loving it!” Judi
